General facts
Castle Martinskirchen dominates the facet of the whole village with its remarkable dimensions
and the high mansard roof. Its architecture and the interior have been created by architects and
artists of the Court of Dresden. The huge baroque building has been built from 1751 to 1756 and
is one of the important baroque castle areas in Brandenburg.
In Martinskirchen Count Frederick Wilhelm of Brühl, a brother of the famous Saxon
secretary Count Heinrich of Brühl, has let build from 1751 to 1756 by the Dresden architect Friedrich
August Krubsacius the three-wing building.
The castle with its three floors and a high mansard roof is clearly influenced in its front
design by the French baroque. Inside the castle the beautiful oval marble hall belongs to the most
magnificent inside halls of that time. The ceiling painting is a work of Stefano Torelli and shows
Diana with her retinue. After the sale in 1795 until the expropriation in 1945 the castle has been
owned by the family Stephann from Torgau.
The castle is owned by the municipality Martinskirchen. A tenant or buyer is searched.
The house is an ideal place for conferences and training, meeting point,
seat of a bigger administration or museum.
The useful area of the castle is 2.221 m².
