General facts
Castle Groß Rietz belongs to the most excellent examples of castle architecture in Mark Brandenburg.
The original ensemble of castle, park, working quarters, church and graveyard still exists today.
Inside the castle especially the three-arm stairs and the stucco ceilings are very impressive.
Castle Groß Rietz has been built between 1693 and 1700 for Hans Georg of Marwitz following
the plans of Cornelius Ryckwaert. His grandchild sold the baroque castle to the Prussian
secretary of state Johann Christoph of Wöllner (1732-1800) who was married with a Countess of Itzenplitz.
He has been the advisor of King Frederick Wilhelms II. and had a big influence and even was the author of
the religion edict of 1788. In Groß Rietz he attended to the economical and ecological development of agriculture.
In 1861 the estate and the castle have been owned again by the family of Marwitz until expropriation in 1945.
The Castle Park and the Castle Yard have been redeveloped according to the appearance of 1850 and
offer many chances to use.
The castle is owned by BSG.
Museum or gallery with high representative demand, events; the useful area is 1.100 m².
Because of the fact that the redevelopment costs can not be allocated to the future rents the
objects can be offered at an extremely reasonable rent. That means: 5,50 € per m²/month are a real size.
