General facts
The so called castle belongs to the type of tower villas in the style as they often have been
built in Berlin and Brandenburg in the middle of the 19th century. Especially in Potsdam there
are many examples and parallels for buildings in the style of late classicism.
Castle Dahlwitz has been built for the former landowner Karl Heinrich of Treskow
in 1855/56 following some sketches of Berlin architect Friedrich Hitzig who has been
one of the most important builders of Schinkel’s pupils’ generation. In the second half of the
19th century the tower has been increased and an extension on the northern site which was a hall
and used as an atelier has been completed. In the post-war period the front decoration and the
interior decors have been completely removed.
The castle is situated in a park with ca. 4 hectares which has been established by Peter Joseph
Lenné already from 1821.
Castle and Park are owned by BSG.
The useful area of the castle is ca. 1.300 m². Because of the existing room structure
the castle can be used for living or for offices.
Because of the fact that the redevelopment costs can not be allocated to the future rents
the objects can be offered at an extremely reasonable rent. That means: 5,50 € per m²/month are a real size.
