Location
The place is located between Calau and Großräschen. There is a connection to the
7 km away motorway slip-road of A 13 Berlin-Dresden (120 or rather 75 km away).
The next bigger town is the district town Senftenberg.

General facts
To the south of Spreewald is located in the extended countryside of Lower Lausitz the place Altdöbern with
ca. 3.500 inhabitants. Former brown coal field in the surroundings are in the process of recultivation.
That way the landscape gets new facets. Extended plantings and big lakes are the new characteristic
features of the region.
Castle Altdöbern with its park area of 60 hectares is located in the centre of an old cultural landscape.
The history begins in the 12th century and the castle itself has been built in the period of glory of
the Saxon baroque. In 1717/18 has been built the castle and the park. In 1749/50 the castle has been
considerably extended and it got high-quality furnishings. For the design of interior have been
engaged first-class artists of the court of Dresden.
From 1880 to 1883 the whole area got its final appearance. To the castle ensemble belong a
magnificent portal, a double forecourt area with Gentleman houses, royal stable, orangery and the
working quarters of the former estate.
The castle is represented as a five-floor three-wing building with two towers, mansard roof
and a huge neo-romantic extension with round tower.
In the extraordinarily wide park area Castle Altdöbern is located the "French Garden" with
a „salt pond“ of 13 hectares, an old stock of trees, numerous waterworks and sculptures. The whole
complex with its historical buildings is kept in its basic construction almost unchanged. After
modernization and repair will be offered reasonable conditions for an extensive use according
to the time and the protection of historical monuments.
Since 1996 the castle has been owned by BSG.
Because of the size of the castle there are many chances to use it.
The combination of offices with a place for conferences or training or as a
seminar house is an ideal chance to use. Even a hotel can be placed here! The
castle and the park are a good place for a hall of residence or an academy.
The useful area of the castle is 3.290 m².
Because of the fact that the redevelopment costs can not be allocated to the future rents the
objects can be offered at an extremely reasonable rent. That means: 5,50 € per m²/month are a real size.
The castles and manor houses in Brandenburg are to be understood as a cultural heritage of all people.
They are with their most important rooms accessible even to the public. The same is also valid for the
gardens and parks which enclose the castles.
